Yuri Milner, a Russian billionaire, has announced he intends to invest $100 million of his own money into the discovery of extraterrestrial life. Milner has been endorsed by Stephen Hawking in this question, too, reports NY Times.
The ‘Breakthrough Listen’ initiative is said to last 10 years, and may lead to the discovery of alien life thanks to the generosity of Milner. There are no guarantees the plan will lead to anything, though, so everyone should probably sit back and wait a little bit longer. This is certainly something the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) desperately needed to get back on track.
Milner made his fortune thanks to plenty of smart business decisions, like investing heavily into Facebook.
