According to The Washington Post, Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist, recently donated $10,000 to Grow It Green Morristown who named a composting toilet in his honor. The group creates farms and gardens to give everyone equal access to fresh, local food. They also educate communities about healthy eating and environmental stewardship.
Grow It Green plans to place Newmark’s toilet at their Early Street Community Garden, which is where Newmark lived for the first 12 years of his life. He said that he loves what people can do online today, but he believes that clean water and sanitation matter more. The composting toilet uses an aerobic reaction to break down the waste, essentially replacing water. The toilet has been dubbed “Craig Newmark Memorial Latrine No. 2″
